What does it take to start a web site with my domain?

You need 2 basic elements: 
1. Register your domain name ($8.49/year)
2. Host your site (Starting $3.95/month)

Once you register the domain name, it will take 24-72 hours to resolve on our server and be able to see your site on your domain name. Please note that our domain name registration and our hosting servers are 2 different systems and you will have different user names and passwords for each. This is to give you the freedom to host with someone else, should you require that. If you choose the $8.95/month hosting package, we will pay for the registration of your domain name for 1 year.

I want to register a  domain name for 1 year and get the special hosting for 1 year. How can I make a payment for both together?

First, go ahead and signup for the domain name you like (http://order.makingcomputers.com) but don't make a payment at the end. Then go to the link below and pay $55.89 ($8.49 for domain and $47.40 for hosting).

How long does it take to transfer domain name?

It takes 2-5 days, depending on how fast your registrar responds, and how fast their requests are confirmed (see below regarding mechanism)

How do I configure my Domain Name to point to your servers?

• Go to Domain Name Registration "login" in our front page ( http://www.makingcomputers.com ) and use the password and username you selected while registering your Domain Name (NOT THE USERNAME AND PASSWORD WE PROVIDED YOU FOR YOUR WEB HOSTING!).
•  Once logged on, under "Description" click on your Domain Name.
• Click on "Modify Name Server" button and next to "Name Server 1:"  type ns.makingcomputers.com and next to "Name Server 2:"  type ns2.makingcomputers.com and  Click on "Submit" button. Now your Domain Name will point to our servers. IT WILL TAKE BETWEEN 24-48 HOURS FOR THE DOMAIN NAME TO SETTLE.  

What are the reasons why my domain is not being transferred?

• The domain has already been (registered or transferred) less than 60 days ago.



• Your previous registrar has the name locked for either non-payment, or at your request.



• The domain has already passed its expiration date or is about to expire soon in 10 days.



• You do not have access to the registered Admin Contact E-mail for your domain, or the person listed on your domain's



• Admin Contact email doesn't approve the transfer within 5 days after initial transfer request.

Is my hosting affected by this transfer? (does transferring change my DNS?)

No. You are welcome to take advantage of our great web hosting deals, but if you want to stay with your current host, go ahead. Your hosting should not be affected in anyway.

What happens after I initiate my transfer (executed from MakingComputer.com side)?

1. The administrative contact of your domain will receive an email to confirm the transfer (follow directions exactly)
   



2. The administrative contact will get an email from the loosing registrar (e.g. register.com, networksolutions, godaddy) to confirm the transfer
   Again, follow directions exactly, otherwise their will be delay in transfer.
   



3. Once both confirmation above are completed, the transfer will take place. Your DNS setting will be the same as the DNS you had with old registrar.
