How do I register a domain name?

There are 2 steps required to successfully register a domain name.   First, you must create an account with us. To do that, you must enter the domain name you want to register in the registration suite in the name search box, beneath "register your domain name", then click the "Go" button.   Check mark the domain you want and click "continue". If you have registered previously, you write your user name and pass word, otherwise you have to complete the form to receive a username and password. Your username is generally your email address.  You can buy more domain names under the same account for your convenience. The second step is to pay for the service through credit card or Paypal. After domain registration you will be prompted for method of payment.  You can pay for the number of years or number of domain names by changing the "quantity" field. Your order will be reviewed and executed within 24 hours, usually much sooner.
* Please remember that your DNS will point to your server of choice in 24-48 hours, this is the time for the world wide directory to update world wide - the same for all registrars.

How do I transfer a domain name?

What kind of domain names can I Register/transfer?

 Currently you can only transfer .com/.org/.net/.biz/.info - Please note that the $8.49 price applies to the .com/.org/.net suffixes only.

How long does it take to transfer domain name?

It take 2-5 days, depending on how fast the registrar respond, and how fast their requests are confirmed (see blow regarding mechanism)

What are the reasons why my domain is not being transferred?

• The domain has already been (registered or transferred) less than 60 days ago.



• Your previous registrar has the name locked for either non-payment, or at your request.



• The domain has already passed its expiration date or is about to expire soon in 10 days.



• You do not have access to the registered Admin Contact E-mail for your domain, or the person listed on your domain's



• Admin Contact email doesn't approve the transfer within 5 days after initial transfer request.

Is my hosting affected by this transfer? (does transferring change my DNS?)

No. You are welcome to take advantage of our great web hosting deals, but if you want to stay with your current host, go ahead. Your hosting should not be affected in anyway.

What happens after I initiate my transfer (executed from MakingComputer.com side)?

1. The administrative contact of your domain will receive an email to confirm the transfer (follow directions exactly)
   



2. The administrative contact will get an email from the loosing registrar (e.g. register.com, networksolutions, godaddy) to confirm the transfer
   Again, follow directions exactly, otherwise their will be delay in transfer.
   



3. Once both confirmation above are completed, the transfer will take place. Your DNS setting will be the same as the DNS you had with old registrar.
